Course Description

This course serves as the capstone course for the Mini Master of Psychosocial Counseling Studies program. This course allows students to apply theoretical knowledge and practical skills to a real-world project focused on a key area of psychosocial counseling. Students will develop, implement, and evaluate a project that addresses a specific psychosocial issue, such as mental health intervention, crisis counseling, trauma-informed care, or community support. The project emphasizes research, ethical practice, and culturally sensitive counseling strategies. Students will present their findings through a written report and oral presentation.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Applying Theoretical Concepts to Counseling Practice: Students will demonstrate the ability to apply psychosocial counseling theories and techniques to address a real-world issue, integrating knowledge from across the program to develop an effective counseling intervention or support plan.
  • Designing and Implementing a Psychosocial Counseling Project: Learn how to plan, design, and execute a comprehensive counseling project, including needs assessment, intervention design, client engagement, and project evaluation, ensuring alignment with ethical and professional standards.
  • Conducting Research and Data Analysis in Counseling: Gain proficiency in conducting relevant research, collecting data through appropriate methods (e.g., surveys, interviews, or case studies), and analyzing results to inform the counseling approach and evaluate the project’s impact.
  • Communicating Project Findings and Implications: Develop skills in effectively communicating project outcomes, including writing a well-structured project report and delivering an oral presentation that highlights key findings, implications for practice, and potential areas for further study or improvement.

These outcomes aim to prepare students for practical application in psychosocial counseling roles, equipping them with hands-on experience in developing interventions that support individuals, families, and communities. The course is designed to bridge academic learning with real-world application, preparing students for professional roles in counseling, mental health services, and community support programs.
