Course Description

This course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the principles, techniques, and tools used in health coaching to support individuals in achieving their health and wellness goals. The course covers key topics such as behavior change theories, motivational interviewing, goal setting, communication strategies, and developing personalized health plans. Students will learn how to work with clients to address lifestyle, nutrition, fitness, and mental health challenges, while promoting sustainable behavior change. Emphasis is placed on developing practical coaching skills, ethical practices, and fostering a client-centered approach.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Understanding Health Coaching Principles: Students will gain a solid understanding of the core principles and theories of health coaching, including behavior change models such as the Transtheoretical Model and Self-Determination Theory, and how these models guide the coaching process.
  • Applying Motivational Interviewing Techniques: Learn how to use motivational interviewing techniques to encourage clients to explore their motivations for change, overcome resistance, and set realistic, actionable health goals.
