Chronic and Non-Communicable Diseases

This course delves into the global impact of chronic diseases, exploring their causes, distribution, and prevention strategies. Students will learn about epidemiological approaches to understanding chronic conditions, with a focus on global health disparities and control measures. The aim is to equip students with insights into tackling the global challenge of chronic diseases.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

• Understand Chronic Disease Epidemiology: Grasp the global and local (Malawi-specific) patterns and causes of chronic diseases.
• Analyze Risk Factors in Malawi: Identify and assess risk factors contributing to chronic conditions.
• Evaluate Prevention Strategies: Understand and appraise prevention strategies for managing chronic diseases.
• Address Disparities: Recognize and strategize to mitigate health disparities in chronic disease management.
