Emergency and Disaster Management

This course equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to prepare for, respond to, and recover from public health emergencies and disasters. Topics include disaster risk reduction, emergency planning, response coordination, and post-disaster recovery. Students will analyze case studies of natural disasters, pandemics, and other crises to understand effective management strategies.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

• Understand Emergency Management Principles: Explain the concepts and frameworks for managing public health emergencies and disasters.
• Develop Emergency Preparedness Plans: Create comprehensive plans to mitigate risks and prepare communities for potential emergencies.
• Coordinate Disaster Response: Demonstrate the ability to manage resources and coordinate with stakeholders during a crisis.
• Evaluate Post-Disaster Recovery Efforts: Assess recovery strategies and their effectiveness in restoring public health and community resilience.
