Course Description

This is the culminating experience for students pursuing a Professional Diploma in Public Health, with a focus on addressing complex and high-level public health challenges in Malawi. This project requires students to utilize their advanced public health knowledge and leadership skills to develop, implement, and evaluate innovative interventions, policies, or public health programs. The capstone emphasizes strategic thinking, stakeholder collaboration, policy analysis, and high-level program management. Students will deliver a final comprehensive report and presentation that showcases their capacity to contribute to significant public health improvements in Malawi.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Advanced Application of Public Health Leadership: Students will demonstrate the ability to apply advanced public health knowledge and leadership skills to address complex public health issues, with a focus on creating sustainable impact in Malawi.
  • Conducting Comprehensive Research and Policy Analysis: Gain expertise in conducting comprehensive research and analysis of public health policies, health systems, and epidemiological data to inform the design and implementation of effective health solutions.
  • Designing and Implementing Scalable Public Health Solutions: Learn to develop and manage large-scale, high-impact public health interventions, programs, or policies that are tailored to address systemic public health challenges in Malawi, ensuring scalability and sustainability.
  • Strategic Communication and Stakeholder Engagement: Develop the ability to effectively communicate complex health strategies, and research findings.

This capstone project prepares students for high-level leadership roles in public health by equipping them with the strategic, managerial, and analytical skills necessary to design, implement, and advocate for impactful public health initiatives.
