Course Description

This course examines the social, economic, and health impacts of drug use, abuse, and addiction in contemporary society. The course covers the history and classification of drugs, the physiological and psychological effects of drug use, and the legal and regulatory frameworks governing drugs. Students will explore the role of drugs in the workplace, the community, and public health, as well as prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation strategies. Emphasis is placed on understanding the broader societal consequences of drug use, including crime, healthcare costs, and family dynamics.
