Health Policy

This course examines the development, implementation, and impact of health policies on healthcare systems and population health. This course explores the process of health policy-making at local, national, and global levels, including the roles of government agencies, healthcare organizations, and other stakeholders. Students will analyze key health policies, such as the Affordable Care Act, Medicare, and Medicaid, as well as policies addressing public health, health equity, and healthcare access. The course emphasizes the role of policy in shaping healthcare delivery, controlling costs, and improving health outcomes.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

• Understanding Health Policy Concepts: Students will develop a comprehensive understanding of the key concepts in health policy, including the policy-making process, the role of stakeholders, and the impact of health policies on healthcare systems and public health.
• Analyzing Key Health Policies: Gain proficiency in analyzing major health policies, including Medicare, Medicaid, and the Affordable Care Act, and understanding their effects on healthcare access, quality, and costs.
• Evaluating the Impact of Health Policies: Learn how to evaluate the effectiveness of health policies in addressing public health challenges, reducing disparities, and improving healthcare delivery, using evidence-based analysis.
• Policy Development and Advocacy: Develop skills in health policy development and advocacy, including how to engage stakeholders, draft policy proposals, and influence the policy-making process to address emerging health issues.
