English Composition

This course is designed to develop students’ abilities to think critically and to express their ideas clearly, coherently, and effectively through writing. This course emphasizes the writing process, focusing on audience awareness, purposeful writing, argumentation, and research-based writing. Students will engage in various writing exercises, including personal essays, analytical reviews, and research papers. The goal is to enhance students’ skills in composition as a means of organized thought, research, and communication.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

• Critical Thinking and Analysis: Students will demonstrate the ability to think critically and analyze texts by identifying arguments, assessing evidence, and synthesizing information from a variety of sources.
• Effective Communication: Develop the ability to write clear, accurate, and persuasive texts. Students will learn to adapt their writing style and tone to suit different audiences, purposes, and contexts.
• Research Skills: Gain proficiency in conducting academic research, utilizing various sources, and integrating these sources into their own writing using appropriate citation and formatting styles.
• Revision and Editing: Enhance skills in revising and editing their own work, focusing on grammar, clarity, organization, and style, to produce polished and professional documents.
